The Assassin's Creed IV Companion app doesn't exactly follow any established UI guidelines, but you will eventually figure out the specifics. These ships can then be used in Kenway's Fleet mode to clear shipping lanes and complete cargo runs, which earn your character money and upgrades in the full game. When you capture ships in the game, you can choose (among other things) to add them to your personal fleet. The most interesting aspect of this app, and the thing that makes it a lot more useful to Assassin's Creed players is "Kenway's Fleet." This is a minigame that is accessible in the full game, but has also been broken out into the companion app. You'll also come across treasure maps which can be used on your second screen just like the real thing as you wander around in the game to find where X marks the spot. The Assassin's Creed IV Companion App also includes detailed game progress stats and lists of unlocked items for further investigation. You can use it to set waypoints and search for locations.
